Sokoto gov vows to make LG autonomous

The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, on Saturday, assured residents of the state of his readiness to make local government autonomous as they exercise their franchise during the local government election in the state.

The governor spoke with newsmen shortly after casting his vote in his polling unit at Magajin Rafin primary school in the Tundun Wada area of Sokoto South Local Government Area on Saturday.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the State Independent Electoral Commission processes, which he said ensure smooth conduct of the election.

He urged candidates to accept the election’s outcome in good faith and assured readiness to work with all the candidates that emerged in the election to transform people’s lives for the better.

Speaking in his remark after voting in the Gidan Kara polling unit in Wamakko Local Government Area, the former governor of the state and the state All Progressive Congress leader, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, said the high turnout of electorates at the election indicated people’s acceptance of the APC administration.

He appealed to those who would emerge winners to consider the victory as a call to serve and ensure transparency in their dealings.

Speaking after casting his vote at his polling units in Acida town, the APC chairman in the state, Isa Acida, expressed his satisfaction with the state electoral committee in the state.
