The Governor of Osun State has accused Dotun Babayemi, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of being ignorant about how the government works.
In a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, it was stated that Babayemi has been out of touch with politics for a long time and cannot understand the busy activities taking place at the Bola Ige House, which is the Governor’s office, since Governor Adeleke took office.
“Babayemi is completely unaware of the numerous events, such as state executive meetings and ongoing treasury board meetings, that are held at the government secretariat. He is lost in the wilderness and cannot comprehend the positive developments that the Adeleke administration has brought to Osun,” the statement read.
The statement also mentioned that Babayemi is unaware of the ongoing transformation of the Government House, where the Governor recently hosted the outgoing state police commissioner.
“We want to make it clear that the government is functioning efficiently from the relevant government offices. Furthermore, the Governor often stays late at the renovated White House to handle important state matters,” the statement added.
The statement highlighted the success of Governor Adeleke’s style and approach, which has received praise even from those who previously supported Babayemi’s failed attempt to steal the governorship mandate.
Adeleke advised Babayemi to take responsibility for his treachery against the party and the government that was elected by the people of Osun State if he wants to be readmitted into the party.
“In any case, the government is for the people, by the people, and of the people. We do not need uninformed opinions from someone who is still in the dark about politics and unable to understand the new reality of his position in the political landscape,” the statement concluded.
In a radio interview in Ilesa, Babayemi had urged Governor Adeleke to relocate to the Government House and stop conducting government activities from his private residence in Ede.
