The Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has given his approval to a bill that will establish 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state. This bill has already been passed by the state House of Assembly and now has the necessary legal support to create the LCDAs.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Oladiji Olamide, presented the bill to Governor Akeredolu for his approval. Richard Olatunde, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, confirmed this in a statement over the weekend. He mentioned that the creation of the LCDAs is an important step towards meeting the people’s desire for better development at the grassroots level.
The governor has consistently shown his dedication to improving public services, and the establishment of the LCDAs will bring governance closer to the people. Governor Akeredolu is determined to deliver impactful projects and introduce innovative initiatives to advance the development of the Sunshine State.
However, the creation of the LCDAs has caused some disagreements within the state. Certain communities have raised concerns about feeling marginalized. They believe that their lands are being given to different local councils under the pretext of creating LCDAs.
Despite these controversies, the approval of the bill marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to improve grassroots development. With the creation of the LCDAs, the government aims to bring governance closer to the people and address their needs more effectively.
