The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders, known as the National Coalition of APC Progressives Stakeholders, couldn’t help but laugh at the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for organizing a protest in London. The protest was against the judgment of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which removed Gov. Abba Yusuf from office.
According to the APC stakeholders, the London protest was a desperate move by the NNPP after their previous attempts to discredit the tribunal judgment failed. They found it embarrassing that only eight people showed up for the protest, considering they were targeting about 1,000 attendees. This suggests that both Nigerians at home and in the diaspora accepted the judgment in good faith.
The National Secretary of the APC, Isabella Odunayo, spoke on behalf of the stakeholders during a press conference in Abuja. She stated that they were addressing the press to respond to the lies being spread by the NNPP. She criticized the NNPP for resorting to blackmail and organizing a protest in London, even though justice had already been served with the tribunal judgment.
Odunayo expressed her disappointment in the NNPP’s actions, saying, “After failed attempts to discredit the tribunal ruling, the NNPP desperation took them to London where it sponsored a protest to blackmail the federal government and discredit the tribunal judgment.” She also highlighted the lack of support for the protest, with only eight people showing up. This clearly shows that the NNPP does not represent the interests of Nigerians.
Odunayo emphasized that the judiciary cannot be intimidated by the NNPP’s threats. She assured that the security agencies in Nigeria are fully prepared to protect the country. The small group of protesters in London does not hold the voice of Nigerians.
