Hey there, middle schoolers! Some big news coming your way. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has made a decision that affects the Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Jamilu Umaru Dahiru Barade. Let’s find out what happened!
So, there was this thing called the Bauchi State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal. They had previously said that Barade was the rightful representative for Bauchi Central State Constituency. But guess what? The Court of Appeal disagreed!
Now, because of this disagreement, the Court of Appeal wants a do-over. They have ordered rerun elections in some polling units in the constituency. This is because the appellant, Aliyu Abdullahi Ilela from the All Progressives Congress (APC), said there was over-voting in those units.
Well, the Court of Appeal wants the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take back the Certificate of Return they gave to Barade. They also want INEC to organize the rerun election in the affected polling units. It’s like hitting the reset button!
Just a few days ago, the Court of Appeal also removed the Speaker of the House, Abubakar Sulaiman. It seems like there’s a lot of changes happening in the Bauchi State House of Assembly!
