The Supreme Court is taking its time to make a decision on the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Atiku is trying to overturn the declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Justice John Inyang Okoro, who is leading a panel of seven Justices of the Court, announced that the final judgment will be reserved after hearing arguments from the lawyers involved in the case.
Justice Okoro mentioned that the parties involved will be informed about the judgment date as soon as it is decided.
Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar is standing firm in his belief that President Bola Tinubu should be disqualified from the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku argues that Tinubu did not meet the constitutional requirements to run for the election at the time he did.
The former Vice President, represented by his lead counsel, Chris Uche SAN, is urging the apex court to use the Constitution to invalidate Tinubu’s participation in the election.
