A Federal High Court in Abuja recently made a decision on a lawsuit filed by Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa. The senator was trying to prevent the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) from investigating him. This investigation was related to a comment he made during the farewell session of the 9th National Assembly (NASS).
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who presided over the case, ruled that the lawsuit had no merit and should be dismissed. The judge stated that as a lawmaker, Bulkachuwa should have understood the consequences of his statement in the Senate.
Basically, the court said that Bulkachuwa cannot stop the ICPC and DSS from investigating him. The judge believes that as a senator, Bulkachuwa should have known better than to make the statement he did. This decision means that the investigation will continue, and Bulkachuwa will have to face the consequences of his actions.
