The Omalegwuoku Progressive Initiative (OPI)/Igbo Kwenu for Asiwaju-Shettima, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) Igbo community, has a message for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections. They believe that Obi should wait for his turn to rule the country instead of calling out President Bola Tinubu.
The group strongly disagrees with Obi’s recent comments, where he asked Tinubu to clarify his state of origin and academic qualifications. Mrs. Ginika Tor, the global president of the group, expressed her disappointment in Obi’s actions during a press conference in Abuja.
Mrs. Tor shared her thoughts, saying, “I had already prepared my speech, and suddenly I realized that my own brother, Peter Obi, whom I deeply respect, came on ARISE TV and demanded that our president, the leader of our nation, should explain his state of origin.”
She continued, “As a man who served as a governor for eight years, it is unacceptable that we still don’t know his state or his educational background. Is it right for him to demand this information from our President?”
Mrs. Tor believes that Obi’s actions are insulting to Nigeria as a nation. She questions whether it is necessary for the President, who was elected and validated by the people, to publicly declare his state, country, region, and locality. According to her, what the President owes the nation is to lead us towards our desired future.
