If anyone expected anything else from them then they still don’t know who they are and what they represent.” In the recent Presidential election, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged victorious after his opponent, Mr Obi, failed to secure enough votes in the FCT. However, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba Ahmed, made disrespectful comments about President Tinubu on national television.
Datti Baba Ahmed was quoted saying, “Showing Tinubu respect does not mean I will not call him a drug dealer. Remove the guns from the hands of Nigerians & redirect them against the enemies of Nigeria. Nigerians must reclaim the country.”
Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, quickly responded to Datti Baba Ahmed’s comments. He criticized him for resorting to name-calling and destabilizing the country with his inflammatory remarks. Fani-Kayode expressed his surprise that Datti Baba Ahmed had not moved on from his party’s defeat in the election.
Fani-Kayode used strong language to describe Datti Baba Ahmed, calling him names that are too harsh to be published. He mocked Datti Baba Ahmed for being unable to accept their defeat and still being bitter about it. Fani-Kayode emphasized that Datti Baba Ahmed’s party did not even come in second place, but instead finished in third.
Fani-Kayode concluded by stating that he was not surprised by Datti Baba Ahmed’s comments, as they come from someone who was the Vice Presidential candidate of the Obidient movement. He suggested that their humiliating defeat in the election had left them desperate and willing to make outrageous statements.
