Hey there, middle schoolers! Guess what? The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, recently paid a visit to Bayelsa State. He wanted to talk to important people and the police officers to get ready for the upcoming guber election in Bayelsa State. Cool, right?
The IGP had a meeting with the governor of Bayelsa State, Sen Douye Diri, at the Governor’s Office in Yenegoa. During the meeting, he promised the people of the state that the election on November 11, 2023, would be free, fair, secured, and credible. That’s really important for a fair election!
He also asked the governor, who is a candidate in the election, to tell his supporters to be peaceful. It’s always better when everyone gets along and respects each other’s opinions, don’t you think?
The IGP didn’t stop there! He also met with the traditional rulers at the Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers’ Secretariat in Yenagoa. He talked to them about security and asked them to encourage the people of Bayelsa to go out and vote. The police and other security agencies will make sure everything goes smoothly during the election. Safety first!
After all those meetings, the IGP spoke to the police officers at the State Headquarters. He told them to do their jobs without any fear or favoritism. They have to follow the law and be good examples for the Nigerian Police Force. Even after the election, they should continue to represent the NPF well. That’s some good advice!
