Protocols,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the closing ceremony of the Osun Industrial Investment Summit 2024.
You will recall that at the opening ceremony I told you that I am very passionate about the progress and development of Osun. Your Excellencies, Your Majesties, Distinguished Guests and good citizens of our dear state who have been with us since the beginning of this Summit. I must commend you all for your love for Osun State and your great passion to see the state grow to greater heights. As I said in my welcome speech, the theme of this historic summit, “Connecting Progress with Purpose” was carefully chosen to align with part of our administration’s “5 point Agenda” which include boosting the State’s economy through Agro-based industrialization for wealth and job creation. The summit was based on five key pillars, Agriculture, Mining, ICT, Commerce and Tourism because our objectives are to set an agenda for accelerated industrial investment in Osun State, Nigeria, identify opportunities for transforming Osun State’s economy, identify opportunities and strength of the various sectors in the State to attract investors and providing a platform for discussions and agreements on strategies for accelerating the pace of industrialisation and economic growth in the State. It is expected that at the end of this summit Osun will emerge as sustainable, resilient and prosperous State.
Our administration’s mission is to make Osun the preferred destination for investment, business and tourism in the South West.
Our State is Open Beyond Borders, we are open to investments from across the globe. Osun is home to everyone irrespective of tribe, race, language, colouror background.
Why do you need to invest in Osun State?
Osun is indeed endowed with both human and natural resources. The resources we sit on are abundant and we have great incentives for our investors which I mentioned in my speech at the opening ceremony. Osun State is in a vantage position as it is centrally located in the South West then you can understand why there is a scramble to invest in Osun.
The State has a very robust infrastructure, including good roads, stable power, and a population of over five million indigenously diverse, educated, highly hospitable people, and a business-friendly environment. Osun State is a land of diverse economic opportunities and we are hopeful that the dry port, cargo airport, special economic zone, agro processing zone and a free trade zone will be fully operationalized which will beneficial to our incoming investors.
It is therefore my hope that the discussions at this summit has given the State insights on the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats to our economic growth and development. I want to appreciate all our keynote speakers, speakers, panelists, moderators and participants who have shared their experiences which would assist us in formulating policies, programme and plans the good people of Osun State. I believe that after this summit Osun will emerge as one of the economic giants in Nigeria.
As I end this speech, I would like to assure you all the State Government will implement and utilize the outcome of this summit to accelerate the pace of industrialisation in Osun State to the advantage of good people of the State. I want to thank the organizers of this summit, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and would also like to appreciate everyone who came from all walks of life for this historic summit.
