Hey there, middle schoolers! Today, we’re going to talk about some important news from Kano. The Kano State Government recently announced that over 4000 people have tested positive for HIV since January. Let’s find out more!
Out of 138,430 people who were tested for HIV, a total of 4,728 were found to be positive. That’s a lot of people! Currently, there are 46,732 individuals living with HIV in Kano who are receiving treatment.
The government of Kano has been working hard to stop the transmission of HIV from mothers to their babies. They have made sure that 95% of all pregnant women get tested for HIV during their first ANC visit. And guess what? Only 0.04% of them tested positive. That’s a really small number, which is great news!
Kano State has been doing a great job in fighting HIV/AIDS. They have started treatment for 4,140 new HIV-infected individuals since January. This means that more people are getting the help they need. The state is also making sure that the budget for HIV/AIDS is three percent of the total health budget. This is an important step to ensure that enough resources are allocated to tackle this disease.
The Kano State Government has been working with partners like USAID, LHSS, NEPWHAN, and KanSLAM to fight against HIV/AIDS. These partners have been helping with advocacy and support to achieve the goals set by the Kano State Agency for Control of AIDS (KSACA).
The State Agency for Control of AIDS (SACA) has introduced a free healthcare service package for people living with AIDS. This means that 600 individuals, including children who have lost their parents to HIV or are living with the disease, will benefit from this program. It’s great to see the government taking care of those in need!
It’s important to stay informed about HIV/AIDS and how it affects our communities. Kano State is working hard to fight this disease and provide support to those who need it. Let’s continue to raise awareness and support each other in this important cause!
