Bad news for Nigeria! Their bid to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with Benin Republic has been turned down. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has instead awarded the hosting rights to Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The decision was made by CAF during its executive committee meeting on Wednesday. This means that the next edition of the AFCON finals will be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
In addition to the 2027 announcement, CAF also revealed that Morocco will be hosting the 2025 edition of the AFCON finals.
The last time Nigeria hosted Africa’s largest football competition was in 2000. The country co-hosted the tournament with Ghana.
