The Kogi State Government wants to clear the air and assure everyone that they have no intention of arresting Hon Leke Abejide, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information in the State, made this statement to address the concerns raised by Abejide and his supporters.
It’s important to note that Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja had already ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to provide maximum protection to Abejide.
The court ruling prevents the DSS, the Police, and Kogi Governor Yayaha Bello from taking any action that could harm Abejide or his properties until the court makes a final decision on the case.
The Commissioner for Information emphasized that there is no plan to arrest any of the candidates participating in the governorship election, including Leke Abejide.
He expressed confusion over Abejide’s concerns and stated that there is no reason for him to worry about being arrested.
The government wants to ensure a fair and peaceful election process for all candidates.
