Hey there, middle schoolers! Did you know that Ekiti State in Nigeria just celebrated its 27th anniversary? That’s right! On October 1, 1996, Ekiti State was created, and it has been a journey filled with blessings ever since.
Ekiti State is not just any state in Nigeria. It is an important part of the country. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who was once a university lecturer, played a big role in making Ekiti State a reality. He was the Secretary of the Committee for the Creation of Ekiti State, which included important people like traditional rulers, statesmen, and top bureaucrats. They all fought hard to make sure Ekiti State became a reality.
Since its creation, Ekiti State has made great progress. Governor Oyebanji is proud of how far the state has come. Ekiti State has excelled in many areas, like education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. It has become a front-runner in these aspects, which is something to celebrate!
Ekiti State is also rich in mineral resources. Governor Oyebanji wants to use these resources to boost the state’s economy. He is working with the Federal Government to explore and invest in these resources. This will create wealth and increase the state’s revenue.
The governor also had an important message for the Organized Labour. They were planning to go on strike, but Governor Oyebanji asked them to reconsider. He explained that the government is already taking steps to help the people, like distributing food and providing transportation. He also mentioned that the Federal Government is planning a wage review, which means more money for workers and more job opportunities.
He urged the Organized Labour to be patient and resolve the economic challenges through dialogue. Shutting down the economy would only make things worse. It’s important to work together for the benefit of everyone.
Ekiti State has come a long way in the past 27 years. It has achieved great things and continues to strive for more. With its rich mineral resources and the commitment of its leaders, the future looks bright for Ekiti State. Let’s celebrate this journey of blessings and look forward to even greater achievements in the years to come!
