A group of leaders from different ethnic groups in the Niger Delta recently visited Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to express their gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing him as a minister. They also congratulated Wike on his new role.
The leaders discussed the current political situation in Rivers and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the state. They highlighted that Rivers State is crucial to the South-South region and any crisis there would affect the entire Niger Delta.
The leaders joined various responsible bodies in the Niger Delta in condemning the attempts to impeach the State Governor of Rivers on grounds of ‘gross misconduct.’ They called these attempts mischievous and unacceptable, urging anyone involved to stop and prioritize peace.
The leaders acknowledged Wike’s influential position as a political leader in Rivers.
