The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, has expressed his determination to challenge the result of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Akinlade, in a statement released by his media aide, Adelani Azeez, assured party members to remain calm despite the tribunal’s ruling. He mentioned that they had anticipated the tribunal’s decision and are prepared to take the necessary steps.
The tribunal recently dismissed the petition filed by Adebutu and the PDP against the election of Governor Dapo Abiodun, stating that it lacked merit. In response, Akinlade expressed his disappointment but also highlighted reasons for hope.
He emphasized that the tribunal is the first level of court and that they have a strong and determined leader. Additionally, he mentioned that time is on their side, as it has the power to change things.
Akinlade quoted the wise words of Obafemi Awolowo, a respected leader, stating that what truly matters is not how many times a person falls or fails, but their ability to rise, learn from their mistakes, and move forward.
He urged PDP members and the people of Ogun State to view this judgement as a temporary setback. Akinlade acknowledged that they had predicted this outcome from the beginning, considering the individuals they were up against.
Despite the disappointment, Akinlade’s determination to fight for justice remains unwavering.
