Hey there, middle schoolers! So, there’s been some drama in Ondo State, Nigeria. The Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was asked by President Bola Tinubu to sign a resignation letter. Woah, right?
Aiyedatiwa and his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, have been having some serious disagreements. But guess what? The Deputy Governor actually presided over a meeting with the state’s executive council. Talk about awkward!
Now, here’s the juicy part. According to the State Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, President Tinubu asked Aiyedatiwa to sign a resignation letter, just in case something bad happens. Yikes!
So, there was this meeting in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. President Tinubu, who is the leader of their political party, the All Progressives Congress, made some important decisions. He said that things should stay the way they are in Ondo State.
He didn’t want the executive council to be dissolved, he wanted the party structure to stay intact, and he wanted the leaders of the House of Assembly to keep their positions. To make sure everything goes smoothly, he nominated three people to enforce these decisions.
Oh, and he also asked for Aiyedatiwa’s signed resignation letter, just in case things go really wrong. That’s some serious precaution, don’t you think?
Meanwhile, the Ondo State House of Assembly and its Speaker decided to withdraw an appeal they had filed in court. They were challenging the Federal High Court’s ruling that stopped them from impeaching Aiyedatiwa. Looks like they changed their minds!
And that’s the latest update on the power struggle in Ondo State. Stay tuned for more news!
