Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has raised concerns about the new naira notes introduced by the former administration. In a statement, Ayodele described these notes as satanic and a threat to Nigeria’s economy. He advised the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, to withdraw them immediately.
Ayodele believes that printing more of these new notes will lead to significant losses for Nigeria. He argues that the previous design was perfect for the country and should be the only legal tender. According to Ayodele, the new notes are associated with marine spirits and bring bad luck.
Primate Ayodele urges Governor Cardoso to take action and put an end to the circulation of these new notes. He believes that continuing to use them will only bring harm to Nigeria’s economy. Ayodele advises the return to the former naira notes, which he considers more favorable.
In late 2022, during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the naira underwent a redesign. This decision was made in preparation for the 2023 general elections. However, Primate Ayodele strongly opposes this change and calls for a return to the previous design.
