Hey guys, guess what? An airplane carrying Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, crash-landed near the Ibadan Airport in Oyo State! This happened on Friday night, according to Daily Trust.
We don’t know yet if the minister or anyone else on board got hurt during the crash. The newspaper didn’t mention anything about injuries.
So, here’s what we know. The plane took off from Abuja and it was a chartered aircraft called Flint Short Aero. It had the registration number 5N-AMM. The pilot contacted the control tower at 6:56 PM to ask for more time to land, and they said yes. But when the plane was about to touch down, it landed too soon and skidded into a bushy ditch near the runway. It missed the landing spot by about 50 meters!
Now, here’s something interesting. The Nigerian Metrological Agency, NiMET, had warned about hazy weather. And the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had also told pilots and airlines to be careful because of the dangerous weather during the dry season. Maybe the weather had something to do with the crash?
As of now, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, hasn’t said anything official about the incident. We’ll have to wait and see what they find out.
