Something big is happening in Nasarawa State! People are taking to the streets to show their anger and frustration. But what exactly is going on?
Recently, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal (GEPT) in Lafia made a decision that has upset a lot of people. They ruled that the winner of the March 18 polls was Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, not Governor Sule from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This means that Governor Sule is no longer considered the rightful governor of the state.
Of course, Governor Sule and his supporters are not happy about this at all. They believe that the Tribunal made a mistake and that the governor should still be in power. So, what did they do?
In response to the judgment, supporters of the APC and Governor Sule decided to protest. They wanted to show their support for the governor and express their disagreement with the Tribunal’s decision.
One of the places where the protest took place was in Akwanga. People gathered there and marched through the streets, holding banners with messages like “Akwanga people stand with the dissenting judgment.” They wanted everyone to know that they believed the governor was treated unfairly.
Even though the Tribunal made its decision, Governor Sule and the APC are not giving up. They have decided to appeal the judgment and take the case to the appellate court. They hope that a higher court will see things differently and rule in their favor.
So, for now, the protest continues and the fight for justice goes on. People in Nasarawa State are standing up for what they believe in and demanding a fair outcome for their governor.
