People have started sharing their thoughts on the recent judgement by the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party and its candidate, Mr Chijioke Edeoga, against the election of Mr Peter Mbah of the PDP. Let’s take a closer look at the reactions to this decision.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Aka Eze Aka, expressed his satisfaction with the judgement. He mentioned that the widespread jubilation is proof that the people of Enugu State voted for Mbah. Aka believes that this victory will allow the government to focus on important projects for the state’s development.
Another supporter, Mr Chidi Okeke, who is a legal practitioner and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), welcomed the decision. He described it as a “sweet victory” and was not surprised by the outcome.
On the other hand, the State Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Mr Onuora Odo, expressed his disappointment with the judgement. He called it a “sham and a pervasion of justice.” Odo, who is also a legal practitioner, stated that the party will take the case to a higher court to seek justice. The party’s legal team will carefully study the judgement and decide on the next steps.
