The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Usman Ododo, is pleading with security agencies to let go of the party members who were arrested in Kogi East on Tuesday.
Ododo believes that the APC chieftains who were arrested are good people and have done nothing wrong. He says they have no reason to be involved in violence or any other bad behavior.
Ododo is worried about the raid on their homes and the damage done to their property. This is causing distress for the party.
Earlier this week, some political thugs, reportedly from the APC, attacked the residence of the Director-General of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Campaign Council, Sheikh Ibrahim Jibrin. Sadly, a policeman and four other people lost their lives in the attack.
In a video clip shared by Arise TV, the APC candidate denies any involvement in the attack. He insists that it was carried out by criminals who targeted his party member.
Ododo is urging the security agencies to release the APC chieftains who are currently in custody. He emphasizes that he does not support or associate with criminals or thugs.
Ododo states, “They have arrested almost seven of my party members, even from my own community. I have allowed the security agencies to do their work, and I have no plans to interfere with their investigation.
“I believe that once they finish their investigation and find none of them guilty, they will be released.
“I have been invited multiple times by the security agencies, and I always cooperate with them. I do not support criminals or thugs, and I do not have any in my party.
“But right now, instead of harassing our members without any reason, I urge the security agencies to focus on catching the criminals who killed one of our members. That should be their priority, not bothering law-abiding citizens.”
