A joint operation involving the military, police, DSS, civil defense, and local vigilantes has led to the successful rescue of three individuals who were kidnapped by criminals in Kanzanna forest, located in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The confirmation of this achievement came from Mallam Yahyah Sarki, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, in a statement released to the press in Birnin Kebbi.
Sarki reported, “The joint security operation team has also neutralized one suspected bandit while several others escaped with bullet wounds following an attack launched by the troops against the bandits who have carried out a series of nefarious activities in Kalgo, Bunza, and Arewa Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.”
This recent operation follows a visit by Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, to communities affected by banditry in Kalgo and Bunza Local Governments. During his visit, he promised to take proactive measures against the criminal elements.
In response, the governor swiftly convened an emergency security council meeting with all security heads in the state. He directed the establishment of a joint operation involving all security agencies with a clear mandate to pursue the bandits and ensure the safety of affected villages.
AbdulRahman Usman, Director of Security at the Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi, noted that the governor has also ordered the provision of sufficient logistical support for the joint operation team. Furthermore, the governor has instructed the deployment of additional security personnel to the affected local government areas to enhance security and safeguard the lives and properties of the people.
The successful outcome of this operation is attributed to the courageous efforts of the joint security team, as well as the unwavering commitment of the state government in providing essential support and assistance to the security agencies.
