The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State is not happy with the recent judgement of the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal. The tribunal upheld the petition of Senator Gabriel Suswam, declaring him the winner of the February 25th Benue North East senatorial election.
Senator Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was initially defeated by Emmanuel Udende of the APC in the election. However, Suswam approached the election tribunal, claiming that there were irregularities in the February 25th North East senatorial election and requested a reversal of the results in his favor.
In a split decision, the Chairman of the panel, Justice Ory Zik-Ikeoha, and another member of the tribunal ruled in favor of Suswam. This means that Suswam’s petition was accepted, and he was declared the winner of the election.
The APC in Benue State is dissatisfied with the tribunal’s judgement. However, they appreciate the courage of one of the tribunal members, Justice U.Z. Mohammed, who dismissed Suswam’s petition against Emmanuel Udende. Justice Mohammed also ordered Suswam to pay a fine of 100,000 Naira.
