Hey there, middle schoolers! We have some news about the road leading to the Wole Soyinka Train Station in Ogun State. It’s not looking good, and the residents are asking for help. Let’s find out more!
The Wole Soyinka Train Station is a fancy train station in Ogun State. It’s part of a big railway project called the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail. This railway was opened in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari. But here’s the problem – the road that goes to the train station is in bad shape!
When the train station was built, nobody thought about fixing the road that leads to it. Now, the road is a total nightmare for people who want to use the train. They are even thinking about going back to using the roads instead of the train. Yikes!
Our reporter went to check out the road, and it’s not pretty. The 3km Kenya/Olokuta/Idi-Aba road is falling apart. Erosion has washed away different parts of the road, making it dangerous and difficult to travel on.
The poor condition of the road has already caused some terrible accidents. One student and a pregnant woman lost their lives because of it. It’s really sad and something needs to be done.
Not only is the road dangerous, but it’s also costing people a lot of money. The cab operators who work at the train station have to spend a big chunk of their earnings on repairing their vehicles. It’s not fair!
The people living in the area have had enough. They’ve spent around N20 million trying to fix the road themselves, but it’s not enough. The chairman of the communities in the area called it a disaster, and he’s right. They need help from the government!
That’s the story of the road to Wole Soyinka Train Station in Ogun. It’s in bad shape, causing accidents and financial troubles for the residents. Let’s hope the government listens to their cries for help and fixes the road soon!
