Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who is running for president alongside the Labour Party (LP), has urged President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, to resign from their positions.
Baba-Ahmed believes that Senate President Godswill Akpabio should be given the opportunity to conduct another presidential election once Tinubu and Shettima step down.
During an interview on Arise Television, Baba-Ahmed expressed his strong belief that Tinubu and Shettima were fraudulently sworn in after the 2023 presidential election. As a result, the LP refuses to collaborate with what they consider an illegitimate government.
Baba-Ahmed stated, “Can Tinubu and Shettima please resign and allow the Senate President to hold another election? They were fraudulently sworn in, and we will not work with an illegitimate government. If it is not constitutional, we will not support it.”
These remarks come after the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, held a press conference where he criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Supreme Court for their incompetence in handling election matters.
