Slow Progress: Contractors Warned by Osun Assembly
The Osun State House of Assembly is not happy with the slow pace of certain road projects in the state. During an inspection of the Osogbo East By-pass road and the Ila-Odo road, the Assembly expressed their dissatisfaction.
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Works and Transport, Waheed Abiola, urged the contractors to prioritize quality while trying to meet the project deadlines. It is important not to compromise on the quality of the work.
Abiola also emphasized the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to the success of these projects. The Assembly appreciates the governor’s quick intervention in addressing the issue of uncompleted projects in the state.
Abiola added, “I also call on the contractors not to hinder the progress of the state.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr Basiru Bello, expressed optimism that with the rapid execution of projects, the state may be free from bad roads by the end of the year.
Engr. Olalekan Salami, the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, who represented Bello, urged all residents of Osun to cooperate with the government by using the roads and drainages responsibly.
