The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a strong warning to officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the upcoming governorship election in Imo State. IPOB has made it clear that it will not stay silent if the Nigerian government attempts to manipulate the election using INEC officials.
IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, emphasized the need for INEC to avoid creating a crisis in Imo State. The statement from IPOB expressed concern about the potential for corruption and wrongdoing during the election.
IPOB highlighted INEC’s history of fraudulent activities during elections in Nigeria. The organization believes that INEC is not truly independent and is influenced by the government in power or wealthy politicians who bribe them.
In the upcoming election in Imo State, IPOB urges INEC officials to be cautious and not contribute to the continuation of suffering, hunger, and violence in the state. They specifically reference the Supreme Court’s controversial decision to impose a rejected candidate on Imo State, which resulted in unnecessary suffering and political intimidation.
IPOB wants to make it clear that they are against political parties and governments that harm the people of the Southeast region. They are committed to protecting the interests and well-being of the people.
