Osun State Government Ready to Support South West Rail Project
The government of Osun State, led by Ademola Adeleke, has announced its full support for the South West Rail Project. This project is being spearheaded by the Development Agenda of Western Nigeria (DAWN Commission).
Sesan Oyedele, the Commissioner for Transportation in Osun State, expressed the state’s commitment to working with other South-West States in developing a comprehensive plan to enhance rail transportation in the region. He made this statement during a meeting of South West transport stakeholders in Ibadan, hosted by the DAWN Commission.
Oyedele emphasized the importance of addressing the transportation needs of the region’s growing population. He highlighted the significant role that Nigeria’s railway system has played in the country’s economic development and transportation sector.
“As Nigeria’s population continues to rapidly increase, with an estimated additional 100 million people in the next 10 years, it is crucial that we plan and develop our transportation infrastructure accordingly,” stated the Commissioner.
Oyedele stressed the need for a collective approach and strategic planning to ensure that the railway system can meet the future needs of the people. He called for the collaboration of all stakeholders in creating a railway development plan that will cater to the transportation requirements of the region.
By supporting the South West Rail Project, the Osun State government aims to contribute to the overall development and improvement of rail transportation in the South-West region of Nigeria.
