Hey there, middle schoolers! Did you know that there are some important elections coming up in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states? The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, recently visited some INEC offices to make sure everything is ready for these elections. Let’s find out what he had to say!
Yakubu reminded all the INEC officials to stay non-partisan, which means they shouldn’t support any particular political party. They have to be fair and honest to make sure the elections are credible. INEC is not a political party and doesn’t have any candidates in these elections. Their job is to protect the people’s choice and make sure the people of Bayelsa and Imo States can choose their own governors.
Yakubu also had some important instructions for the Electoral Officers (Eos) in these states. He told them to activate all the Registration Area Centres (RACs) early enough so that everything runs smoothly on election day. The Commission wants to make sure that all the poll officials are well-prepared and know their responsibilities. They even have a refresher training planned to make sure everyone is ready!
So, get ready, middle schoolers! These gubernatorial elections are a big deal, and it’s important for everyone to play their part. Remember, it’s all about being fair, honest, and letting the people choose their leaders. Let’s see what happens on November 11!
