The recent verdict from the Appeal Court in Zamfara State has been seen by Governor Dauda Lawal as a temporary setback for his administration.
The court’s three-judge panel declared the Zamfara State governorship election inconclusive. They ordered a rerun in three local government areas: Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was emphasized that Governor Lawal was elected because people were dissatisfied with the state’s current conditions.
The statement further stated that the outcome of the governorship election on March 18 accurately reflected the people’s desire for positive development and progress.
Governor Lawal expressed his optimism, saying, “The ruling by the Appeal Court is a temporary setback. However, I remain confident that the people’s collective decision will ultimately prevail.”
He added, “We will emerge victorious. Our determination and commitment leave no room for doubt or fear.”
Despite facing challenges during the last election, Governor Lawal assured the people of Zamfara State that he is fully committed to retaining the widely acclaimed mandate.
He called on the people to remain calm and assured them that the legal team is thoroughly reviewing the verdict. They will take the necessary actions to achieve a just outcome.
