Guess what happened in Ijebu East Local Government? Five councillors decided to remove Wale Adedayo, the chairman of the council. Why did they do that? Well, Adedayo accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of using council funds for something else instead of what they were supposed to be used for. But the governor says it’s not true!
Before this impeachment, the councillors had already suspended Adedayo. And guess what? He was even detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) for saying things that could make people angry. Yikes!
So, what happened on Thursday? Adedayo had to go to the legislative council’s secretariat in Ogbere to answer questions about the allegations against him. He was there for almost two hours! And you know what? Five out of the 11 councillors voted to remove him from his position. Four councillors were against it, and one didn’t vote at all.
The leader of the Ijebu East Legislative Council, Fasheyi Akindele, signed a statement about the impeachment. According to the statement, Adedayo admitted to misusing the council’s funds when he appeared before the legislative council. The statement also said that Adedayo used money that was supposed to be used for certain things for something else. That’s not good!
When Adedayo was asked about all this, he said he didn’t admit to anything. He also mentioned that they were going to set up a committee to look at some files in his office, but things changed after he left. Hmm, interesting!
