Hey there, middle schoolers! Guess what? There’s some interesting news from Nigeria. An Abuja Federal Capital Territory High Court has made a decision about a person named Senator Samuel Anyanwu. They said he can’t pretend to be the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) anymore.
Well, there was a lawsuit filed by someone named Douglas Nwachukwu. He didn’t want the PDP to recognize Anyanwu as the National Secretary until they figured out the whole case. The lawsuit is called FCT/HC/M/015/23, and it also involves the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
So, the court listened to a lawyer named F. S. Jimba, who was representing the person who filed the lawsuit. The judge, Justice M.M Adamu, made a decision. He said that Anyanwu can’t act like the National Secretary of the PDP anymore. The PDP and INEC also can’t recognize him as the National Secretary until they figure out what’s really going on.
The court case isn’t over yet. They will have another hearing on January 24, 2024, to figure out the whole situation. So, we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
By the way, did you know that Anyanwu was the candidate for governor from the PDP in the recent election in Imo State? But he lost to the candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma. Even though he lost, Anyanwu still went back to his office as the National Secretary of the PDP. Some people in the party wanted him to quit before the election, though.
That’s all for now, middle schoolers! Stay tuned for more news.
