The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, recently announced that the FCT Administration is committed to developing satellite towns. This decision was made during the inauguration of Mandate Secretaries for the FCT Administration in Abuja.
Mr. Wike emphasized that the well-being and prosperity of the residents extend beyond the city center. He stressed the importance of ensuring progress and development in all areas of the FCT. This means that satellite towns will receive the attention they deserve.
The Mandate Secretaries who were inaugurated include Mr. Bitrus Garki, Mr. Lawan Geidam, Mr. Danlami Ihayyo, Adedolapo Fasawe, Mr. Salman Dako, Mr. Chinedum Elechi, and Mr. Uboku Nyah. Each secretary will be responsible for a specific sector, such as Area Council Services, Agriculture and Rural Development, Education, Health and Environment Services, Legal Services, Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership, and Transportation.
Mr. Wike urged the Mandate Secretaries to tackle issues that affect the delivery of services in the FCT Administration, particularly the procurement process. He emphasized the importance of transparency, efficiency, and accountability in their roles as advisors, leaders, and implementers of policies.
The Minister highlighted the mission of rebuilding and developing the FCT into a world-class city. To achieve this, he emphasized the need to address key areas that are crucial for the progress and well-being of the city and its residents. One of these areas is the enhancement of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through innovative fundraising methods to support the development agenda.
