Hey there, middle schoolers! So, there’s this court case happening in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. It’s between two important people: Atiku Abubakar, who is a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and President Bola Tinubu. Exciting stuff, right?
Well, Atiku Abubakar filed a lawsuit in the US court because he wants Chicago State University (CSU) to release all of Tinubu’s academic records. Why? Atiku thinks there are some problems with the certificate Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He believes that by looking at these documents, he can find out if Tinubu’s background has any inconsistencies.
The US court said that if CSU has any objections to Atiku’s requests for documents and a deposition, they need to file those objections by a certain date. In this case, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023. The court wants CSU to speak up now instead of waiting until later.
The court has set a date for the hearing. It will take place on September 12, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 1386. If lawyers from out of town want to participate, they can do it over the phone, but the court prefers it if they show up in person. The court sent out a notice to everyone involved to make sure they know about the hearing.
The notice is being sent to everyone involved in the case to follow the rules of the court. It’s generated by a system called CM/ECF, which helps keep track of all the documents and information related to the case. If there are any additional documents enclosed with the notice, the people involved should read them for more details.
