Hey everyone, guess what? The Nigerian government just announced that France is giving back $150 million that was stolen by a former military leader named General Sani Abacha. Isn’t that amazing?
President Bola Tinubu is really happy about this. He thanked France for their decision to return the money. He said, “Thank you for the good news on the return of Abacha loot. We appreciate your effective cooperation concerning the return of Nigeria’s money. It will be judiciously applied in attaining our development objectives.”
President Tinubu also mentioned how the relationship between Nigeria and France is getting better. They are working together on important things like climate change, economic integration, education, and culture. It’s great to see countries helping each other out!
There’s even more good news! Nigeria and France signed an agreement to support a program called i-DICE. This program helps promote investment in technology and creative arts industries. They agreed to give €100 million for this program. That’s a lot of money!
The French Presidential Envoy said that it took a long time to get the stolen money back, but they are really happy that it finally happened. She said, “Sometimes, justice may be slow, but this is a very good achievement.” It’s good to know that justice was served!
