Hey there, middle schoolers! Today we’re talking about Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic scholar who has been causing quite a stir with his recent comments. Some people are even calling for his arrest, but Gumi says he’s not going to waste his time responding to them.
In a sermon, Gumi called the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, a “satanic person.” He also said that if the FCT and Israel work together, Muslims would be treated unfairly. Gumi even went as far as saying that it’s dangerous to have Christians and Southerners in charge of Nigeria’s national security.
As you can imagine, Gumi’s comments didn’t sit well with a lot of people. Groups and individuals started calling for his arrest, saying that he was disrespecting Nigerian Christians. One group called Ohanaeze Ndigbo even referred to Gumi as a “well-known associate of bandits.”
When asked about the calls for his arrest, Gumi had a simple answer. He said, “I shouldn’t have to respond to idiots in a democracy.” In other words, he doesn’t think it’s worth his time to engage with people who disagree with him.
So, there you have it! Sheikh Ahmad Gumi is refusing to respond to those who want him arrested. It’s definitely a controversial situation, but it’s important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even if we don’t agree with them.
