Guess what? The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka, has decided to retire from his job. He used to be in charge of Zone Eight, which is located in Lokoja. Let’s find out more about his background and what he said before leaving.
AIG Onyeka is from Njaba Local Government Area in Imo State. He was the 28th Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone Eight. This zone covers Kwara and Kogi States. Before becoming a police officer, he studied at the University of Chandigarh in India. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Art and a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies from Punjabi University, Patiala, India.
AIG Onyeka joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a cadet ASP. He received his training at the Police Academy Annex in Kaduna State. Throughout his career, he served in different positions and gained valuable experience.
Before leaving, AIG Onyeka had a final lecture with the officers and men of Zone Eight. He shared some important advice with them. He emphasized the importance of doing their job with dedication and following good ethics. These are valuable lessons for everyone, no matter what career path they choose.
After his retirement, AIG Onyeka handed over his responsibilities to DCP Sylvester Edigbanyan. The new officer will now take charge of Zone Eight and continue the important work of maintaining law and order in the area.
