Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State told the newly sworn-in interim management committee for the 44 local government areas of the state that their performance will determine whether their tenure will be renewed or otherwise.
The governor, who stated this during the swearing-in ceremony at the Kano State government house, said that in line with the constitution, the caretaker committee had a three-month tenure expiration period, during which their performance would determine the next line of action.
Governor Yusuf, who also reminded them that the administration has zero tolerance for unruly behaviour, warned the committee against a bossy style of leadership, saying that the government will not hesitate to invoke sanctions where they are found wanting.
According to him, “the committee members were carefully selected and constituted.
“We are determined to return the state to the path of progress and prosperity. Local government councils have an important role to play in this journey.
“You must embrace all and work hard to support our administration in fulfilling our campaign promises.
“You should be leaders prepared to exhibit exemplary conduct, not be bossy.
“This administration has zero tolerance for unbecoming behaviour.
“We will maintain close vigilance over the conduct of each and every one of you and will not hesitate to invoke sanction.
In line with the constitution, your tenure is three months. And at the end of the three months, in conformity with your performance, we will determine the next line of action,” Governor Yusuf, however, stated
