Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, a former chairperson of the Niger Delta Development Commission, is calling for the arrest of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. She believes that Obi is instigating violence in the country and wants the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to take action.
Onochie finds it puzzling that Obi, who finished third in the 2023 presidential election, is so desperate to become President. She wonders why someone in his position would go to such lengths to provoke violence.
Onochie made her call for Obi’s arrest in response to a video posted by Abubakar Sidiq Usman. She used her X account to address the DSS and the police, urging them to take action against Obi
Onochie claims that since Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the President by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obi’s running mate, Dr. Datti Baba Ahmed, and other “unpatriotic angry birds” have been inciting violence among the youth. However, she believes that the majority of sensible Nigerian youth have ignored their calls for violence.
Onochie also mentions that Obi attempted to challenge the election results at the tribunal but failed. She accuses him of even trying to use the Labour movement to stop the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal by declaring a two-day warning strike.
