Hey there, middle schoolers! Big news coming your way from Ogun State! The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is all set to announce its judgement on Saturday, September 30. This is about a petition filed by Ladi Adebutu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the election of Dapo Abiodun from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Just to refresh your memory, the tribunal had reserved its judgement on September 4 after both parties presented their final written arguments. The head of the tribunal, Hamidu Kunaza, had promised to inform everyone about the date of the judgement.
Guess what? The tribunal has now sent a notice to the lawyers representing both sides, and they have fixed Saturday, September 30, as the day when the judgement will be delivered. Exciting stuff, right?
We reached out to Afolabi Orekoya, the Media Aide to Ladi Adebutu, and he confirmed that the judgement will indeed be delivered on September 30. So, it’s official!
Adebutu is asking the tribunal to declare him the winner of the governorship election that took place on March 18 in Ogun State. He claims that there were some issues with following the rules of the electoral act.
