Ondo State Woman Affairs Commissioner, Dr. Olubunmi Osadahun, was attacked in Arigidi Akoko during a palliative distribution event aimed at mitigating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal. The attack occurred when some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged that the distribution was lacking transparency.
Led by a ward Chairman of the party, Olumide Awolumate, they accused the commissioner of marginalizing them and decided to confront her. A video circulating on social media showed a man using a chair to attack the commissioner, causing injuries that required hospitalization.
In response, Awolumate claimed that he was assaulted by the commissioner and her son in his house in the presence of a police officer. The situation escalated, leading to a physical confrontation between supporters of the commissioner and Awolumate.
The commissioner’s daughter, Dr. Jumoke Bakare, confirmed that her mother had been hospitalized after the attack. Meanwhile, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration continued its distribution of palliatives, with plans to provide 1,200 bags of rice to 6,000 households in Akoko South East Local Government Area.
