PRESS BRIEFING BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE OSUN STATE POLICE COMMAND, CP FALEYE OLALEYE AT THE COMMAND HEADQUATERS, OSOGBO OSUN STATE
Gentlemen of the press, I welcome you to today’s press briefing. It is my great pleasure to invite you for a great success the command has recorded recently, which I would like the gentle men of the press to be abreast of. Like I have promised and vowed in my maiden press briefing that, “I have come to work and to make sure that crime and criminal activities are brought to its minimal ebb and bring the state of Osun back to the state of peace and tranquility it is known for”.
The following are the brief of the recent successes recorded:
1. CASE OF BURGLARY/STEALING/UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIVE BOXER MOTORCYCLES SUSPECTS: –
1. HAMMED KAZEEM ‘M’ AGED 27YRS
2. OLANIYI TAYO ‘M’ AGED 28YRSEXHIBIT: –
FIVE UNREGISTERED BAJAJ BOXER MOTORCYCLES
FACT OF THE CASE:-
On 31/10/2022 at about 1030hrs, upon credible information received, one Hammed Kazeem ‘m’ and Olaniyi Tayo ‘m’ were apprehended by Anti-Cultism team at Service Area, Osogbo where they were in a bid to sell one unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle. During interrogation, the suspects confessed that, on the 21/10/2022 at about 2330hrs, they burgled a motorcycle dealer shop located opposite Baptist High School, Iree, Osun State and carted away three (3) new unregistered motorcycles and the other two motorcycles were removed/stole from where parked”.
Having confessed to the crime, a team of detectives moved to their hideout where the said motorcycles were recovered from an uncompleted building along Iree/Iba road, Iree.
They will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
2. CASE OF MURDER/MEMBERSHIP OF UNLAWFUL SOCIETY ‘EIYE CONFRATERNITY’/UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF ONE LOCALLY MADE REVOLVER PISTOL WITH ONE EXPENDED AMMUNITIONSUSPECT: –
OLALEYE QUADRI ‘M’ AGED 30YRS
EXHIBIT: – ONE LOCALLY MADE REVOLVER PISTOL WITH ONE EXPENDED AMMUNITION
FACT OF THE CASE: – On 31/10/2022 at about 2245hrs, during the stop and search along Islaudeen/Ayekale Road, Osogbo; the police operatives from Anti-Thuggery squad apprehended one Olaleye quadri ‘m’ a notorious and deadly member of Eiye confraternity and a gang member of Rasheed Oko Ilu the serial killer squad who has been terrorizing people of Osogbo & Ede environs. The suspect and exhibit were handed over to the Anti-Cultism unit to continue the investigation, having been on their wanted list. During further interrogation, the suspect confessed to the multiple killings that happened in Osogbo metropolis on the 7th of August, 2022 after the killing of Taju Rabiu popularly known as Spanner on 6th August, 2022 at Ilesa Garage, Osogbo. One locally made revolver pistol and one expended ammunition was recovered at his hideout at old garage, Osogbo.
The suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
3. CASE OF UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF WEEDS SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP
EXHIBITS: – 1. THIRTY BAGS OF WEEDS SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP
2. CASH SUM OF ONE HUNDRED AND TEN THOUSAND NAIRA (N110, 000.00K)

FACT OF THE CASE:- On 2nd November 2022 at about 0100hrs, upon credible intelligence at the disposal of operative of Prompt Response Unit (PRU) attached to Ikire Area Command, raided dreaded hideout around Isanlu via Modakeke road, Osun State. During the operation, some hefty groups of people were sighted running into the bush immediately they observed the presence of the police within the territory and they were chased but escaped. All the aforementioned exhibits were recovered.
Meanwhile, efforts are on top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
4. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SUSPECTED HUMAN FLESH
SUSPECTS:- 1. OJO GBADEBO ‘M’ AGED 40YRS
2. BABATUNDE AMUSE ‘M’ AGED 37YRS
3. ISOLA ISAH ‘M’ AGED 38YRS
EXHIBIT:- BIG BLACK POLYBAG CONTAINING DECOMPOSED FLESH SUSPECTED TO BE HUMAN PARTS
FACT OF THE CASE:- On 3/11/2022 at about 0930hrs, the residents of Oke-Ana Iwaraja/Erinmo via Ijebu-Jesa reported at Ijebu-Jesa Divisional Police Headquarters that, they were perceiving unpleasant odour in their community. Immediately, the police operatives attached to Ijebu-Jesa Division, Vigilantes and community members combed the area and during the search, the exhibit in question was found in the house and premises of Ojo Gbadebo. The confession of Gbadebo Ojo led to the arrest of other two suspects one Babatunde Amusa ‘m’ and Ishola Isah ‘m’. Investigation is still ongoing.
The suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
5. CASE OF UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF WEEDS SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP
SUSPECTS: – 1. ADEBAYO ADETOPE ‘M’ AGED 27YRS
2. AYOBAMI OJO ‘M’ AGED 28YRS
EXHIBITS:-
1. SOME WEEDS SUSPECTED TO BE INDIAN HEMP
2. SUBSTANCES SUSPECTED TO BE HARD DRUGS
3. CASH SUM OF FORTY-SEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED NAIRA (N47, 200)
FACT OF THE CASE:- On 3rd November, 2022 at about 1200hrs upon information, police operatives from Prompt Response Unit storm a criminal hideout around Idasa Area, Ilesha, Osun State where hoodlums were sighted in numbers smoking/selling Indian Hemps. Consequently, the swift response of the officers led to the arrest of the above two suspects and the exhibits. Effort is on top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The suspects will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
6. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/RECOVERY OF LOCALLY MADE PISTOL/CARTRIDGES
SUSPECT: – HABEEB SOBOWALE ‘M’ AGED 26YRS
EXHIBITS: –
1. TWO LOCALLY MADE PISTOL
2. TWO LIVE CARTRIDGES
3. ONE BLACK BAG CONTAINING LOCAL CHARMS
4. ONE BLACK BAJAJ MOTORCYCLE
FACT OF THE CASE:- On 5th November, 2022 at about 2045hrs, the Police Operatives from Prompt Response Unit of the Command arrested one Habeeb Sobowale (principal suspect), a notorious armed robber who have been terrorizing Osogbo and its environs. The suspect was one of the three (3) unscrupulous elements that were intercepted by the operative sometime September, 2022 along Testing Ground Area, Osogbo while on Bajaj motorcycle with registration number SGB 375 UM and immediately they abandoned the said motorcycle along with a black bag containing criminal charms and run away. Efforts are on to arrest the other fleeing suspects.
The suspect will be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
7. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/RECOVERY OF LIVE CARTRIDGE
SUSPECT: – ADEWUMI ADEWALE ‘M’

FACT OF THE CASE:- On 7th November, 2022 at about 2230hrs, Police Operatives from Ejigbo received a distress call from the victim that, an armed robbery gang is operating within his premises, explaining that the miscreants went away with the sum of N2.8m which he uses for his POS business. Upon receiving the information, the DPO led a patrol team to the scene of crime and upon arrival, the Police operatives arrested one Adewumi Adewale who was found with a locally made pistol and live cartridge when he was searched. The Police in collaboration with local security outfits are currently, making efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Meanwhile, suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
8. SUSPECTS ARRESTED DURING RAIDS CONDUCTED ACROSS THE STATE
On assumption of office as Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command and in efforts to get rid of criminal elements in the state, I directed my Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Commanders to carryout RAIDS in their various black spots within their jurisdictions.Therefore, in the course of the coordinated raids carried-out, many suspects were arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation. The suspects were screened, investigated and those found not wanting were released while the following suspects were found culpable. They are:
