The Ogun State Police Command is currently in pursuit of a group, led by Joseph Nwakpe, implicated in the alleged theft and diversion of Knorr seasoning products valued at N40.6 million.
According to PUNCH Metro, an inside source within the police department has revealed that Nwakpe and his associates had been entrusted with the responsibility of transporting 2,085 cases of Knorr seasoning from Agbara to Onitsha and Port Harcourt by Pedro Okanlawon, a transport manager at Lap Global Resource.
The transporting vehicle, a customized Mercedes Benz with Registration Number 3364N244722 and Engine Number 3364N244722, bore distinctive inscriptions on the front, reading “Never give up” and “Ifeomachukwu.”
Okanlawon, based in Lagos, repeatedly attempted to contact Nwakpe and his group via phone to inquire about their progress. However, all attempts to locate the suspects were unsuccessful, leading the victim to file a formal complaint with a police station in Agbara.
Following a subsequent investigation, the police arrested the truck’s driver, identified as Danladi Suleiman from the Ayetoro area of Agbara/Badagry Expressway, on September 5, 2023.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, acknowledging that the arrested suspect had confessed to the theft. Further investigations are currently underway.
