Hey there, middle schoolers! Some big news from the National Assembly in Nigeria. Three members of the House of Representatives have been removed from their positions. Let’s find out more!
So, on Monday, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia made a decision. They agreed with the people who filed complaints against these three members. As a result, they were sacked from their positions.
One of the members who got removed is Ibe Okwara Osonwa. He represented the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency. The tribunal, led by Justice Adeyinka Adegberegbe, said that the person from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daniel Chimezie Okeke, proved that Osonwa didn’t follow the rules when he got elected. So, they declared Okeke as the winner instead and told the election commission to give him the certificate of return.
Another member who got sacked is Emeka Nnamani. He represented the Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency. The tribunal agreed with a person named Alex Mascot from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Mascot had some concerns about Nnamani’s qualifications. So, they declared Mascot as the winner instead.
