Hey there, middle schoolers! So, remember how we talked about the robbery that happened at Ogun Polytechnic a few days ago? Well, guess what? It happened again! This time, one student sadly lost their life and nine others got hurt.
Can you believe it? Just a week ago, the students and people from the community were protesting against the robbers who were targeting female students. The school even had to close for a few days to make things safe again. But guess what? The robbers came back!
This time, they attacked students who were living in off-campus hotels near the school. These hotels are in places called Ode, Ipara, and Isara. It’s really sad that the students who were just trying to study and have a good time got caught up in this scary situation.
So, the robbers came back in the early hours of Saturday and attacked the students in the Larufi area of Ode. It was really scary! Some videos on Instagram showed broken doors, windows, and walls with bullet holes. Can you imagine how terrifying that must have been for the students?
Some teachers from the school confirmed the attack, but they didn’t want to give their names because they were scared. They said it was a planned attack, which means the robbers knew what they were doing.
The police have been trying to catch these robbers, but it’s been really tough. They did arrest three of them, but somehow, the others came back. The police spokesperson didn’t respond to calls and messages, and the school’s Head of Public Relations didn’t want to talk about it either. They just said that the security agencies should be allowed to do their job.
Let’s hope that the police can catch these robbers soon and make sure that the students at Ogun Polytechnic can study and live in peace. Stay safe, everyone!
