The Appeal Court in Abuja has made a decision about the election of Governor Bala Mohammed in Bauchi State.
Let’s go back to the beginning. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bala, who is from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the governorship election that took place on March 18.
But Sadique Abubakar, the candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), didn’t agree with the result. He thought there were problems with the election and decided to take the matter to court.
The Bauchi State Governorship Election Tribunal looked into the case and dismissed Sadique’s petition. They said that Bala’s election was valid and should stand.
Sadique didn’t give up. He took the case to the appeal court, hoping for a different outcome. He believed that the March 18 election had irregularities that needed to be addressed.
On Friday, the appeal court made its decision. The panel of three justices all agreed that the tribunal’s verdict was correct. They upheld the decision and confirmed Bala Mohammed as the rightful governor of Bauchi State.
