Hey there, middle schoolers! Today we have some news about the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. He’s going to court because the Federal Government thinks he did some bad stuff related to the economy.
So, Emefiele was supposed to go on trial yesterday, but it got canceled. But don’t worry, he’s going to be in court today! They’re taking him to a High Court in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.
Emefiele won’t be alone in court. He’ll be there with another person named Ramalan Yaro. They both have something to do with these alleged economic sabotage crimes.
When Emefiele gets to court, he’ll have to say if he’s guilty or not guilty. A person from the court confirmed that this will happen today. One of Emefiele’s lawyers also said that he got a notice to appear in court
A lawyer named Matthew Burkaa will bring Emefiele to court. He promised the court that he will make sure Emefiele shows up for the trial. Another judge named Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi gave Emefiele bail and allowed him to be brought to court by Burkaa.
That’s all the news for now, middle schoolers! We’ll keep you updated if anything else happens with this trial.
