Hey there, middle schoolers! Big news in the world of law enforcement – the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has just appointed a new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State. But that’s not all! He has also appointed seven other police officers to lead different commands across Nigeria. Let’s dive into the details!
In a signal that was recently sent out, the Inspector General of Police announced the new appointments. These appointments are part of the ongoing efforts to make our country safer and to better coordinate police operations. The new police officers will be taking up their new roles right away.
The police boss has given an important task to the newly appointed Commissioners of Police. He wants them to show their professional skills and abilities in their new positions. This means they need to be really good at what they do and make sure everything runs smoothly in their areas of responsibility
Now, let’s talk about Rivers State specifically. The new Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, will be taking over from CP Nwonyi Emeka. This change comes after Governor Siminalayi Fubara accused some police officers of trying to harm him. The governor had gone to assess the damage caused by an explosion at the State House of Assembly. The situation got even more complicated when the State House of Assembly tried to impeach Governor Fubara. This led to protests by the youth in the state, and unfortunately, one young person lost their life due to a stray bullet fired by the police.
Olatunji Disu is no stranger to important roles in the police force. Just seven months ago, he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police. He was also appointed as the principal staff to the Inspector General of Police. This means he was in charge of leading and coordinating the security team attached to the IGP’s office. Before that, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He also worked at the State Criminal Investigation Department for Rivers Command as the Deputy Head of the Unit.
So, there you have it! A new Commissioner of Police has been appointed for Rivers State, along with several other police officers for different commands across Nigeria. We hope these changes will help strengthen security and make our country a safer place. Stay tuned for more updates!
